Unique Turkey 2024 - Part 3 - Magical Babadag Peak and the amazing Oludeniz Bay

I had read a lot about the options for tourists in the Fethiye area, as it was our first time to visit this part of the coast of our neighbors and I had chosen quite a few places to visit, but there was no way to get to everything marked and rest at the same time, so I decided that during this holiday we would only walk to Babadag mountain.

My belief is not to visit all the attractions in the same place, because at some point in my life I might want to go back there and it will be more interesting for me to have more new places to visit rather than the ones I already know.

The preliminary information I had about the attraction in question is that it is located about 30 minutes from the #clubtuana hotel. It was necessary to cross the town of Fethiye, immediately after it is the area of Oludeniz with its incredible bay, which we would see from a height, going up in a lift. Before we got there, I had no idea what awaited us with the lift.

Arriving at the place at 10 o'clock, when it opens, we found out that there is a well-organized parking lot, from which a mini open-air train departs, which takes tourists to the very entrance of the lift.

The distance is no more than 300 meters and can be covered on foot, but it is good news that it has also been thought of for people with reduced mobility. However, a person who does not have the opportunity to walk for a long time can only ride the lift, get off at a station, admire the beautiful view with a glass of his favorite drink and go back down. For those looking for physical activity, there is also the option of mountain hikes, combined with incredible views of the coast.

The good news for us was that 10 o'clock is an early hour for sightseeing for most holidaymakers as well as for organized tours of the site, and there were hardly any people yet, allowing us to enjoy it in complete peace and in its full glory.

We were in a hurry to go early so as not to catch too much heat as the temperatures in the area reached 40 degrees in those days. Surely visiting the sunset place is also an amazing idea, I just don't like driving in the dark in unknown places.

As of June 2024, the price for using only the covered part of the lift to its second and final stop was BGN 24 round-trip for an adult. The indoor lift looked new and modern. While I'm no expert, it looked pretty well maintained, at least to me. There are also 2 open lifts after our station, but we did not use them.

The starting station of the facility is located only 226 meters above sea level. The first station we were not allowed to get off at is 1200 meters above sea level and the end station of the indoor lift is 1700 meters above sea level. At both stops, there is a cafe and a panoramic platform, as well as a "take-off" platform for paragliders.

The open lift also has 2 stops - the first one is at 1800 meters above sea level and the last one is at 1900 meters above sea level and actually reaches Babadag peak. This part of the facility operates only in the summer months and is subject to weather conditions. If the weather does not permit, even during the hot months of July and August, access to the outdoor facilities is temporarily suspended.
The ride to the terminus of the indoor facility, which we took advantage of, takes about 30 minutes.

I can't deny that the views were beyond amazing, but the truth is that I was scared to death. In Bulgaria, we don't have elevators whose cabins are located so high above the "solid ground". It was indeed a slightly challenging experience for a timid person like me, but I did not regret for a moment that I went up. It's 100% worth the experience and I guarantee you won't regret it if you get a little scared!

Looking at my pictures, I come to the conclusion that I didn't even take good pictures of the heights riding the lift, because at times I sat with my eyes closed, gritted my teeth and didn't dare look down.

In the following photos, you can clearly see Oludeniz Bay and Beach, which is also one of the main attractions of the area around Fethiye.

In another direction, the entire coastline of Fethiye city could be seen in the background. Our hotel is located on the other side of this regional town and was a few kilometers outside its borders.

The lift turned out to be a favorite spot for countless paragliders and thrill seekers who soared freely over the incredible bay and finally landed directly on the iconic beach of Oludeniz.

The next 2 photos show part of the view from the top, which we took the lift to.

For a 360 degree panorama of the amazing bay, you can visit my Facebook profile, where I upload a #reel that I promise will stun you!

I rate this experience 5 stars and recommend it to anyone. I think even more timid people like myself will appreciate the experience positively. Definitely worth it!
